Ensure that the top of the concrete is completely level and flat by using a screed. Move it side-to-side or sawing motion to smooth any excess concrete. For further smoothing the surface, it is advisable to use a bull float. To provide traction to the patio, a stiff-bristled broom can be used to make a non-slip surface.
As part of the finishing touches, before the concrete completely dries, an edger can be used to round the edges of the patio. Concrete will now set and cure for 2 to 3 days depending on the weather. Concrete tends to dry quicker when the weather is hot and longer to cure during cold weather. Then the stakes and forms can be carefully removed after 3 days. It is recommended to wait 7 to 10 days before walking on the patio to ensure that it is fully cured.
